The weekend and fashion magazines are inundated with forests of newsprint dedicated to the elusive 'lifestyle' of the celebrities and middle classes of both the North and the South.
But little space is devoted to the less privileged members of our global family, from the homeless of London to the child labourers of Brazil and Thailand and the refugees of Africa.
They retain their beauty and dignity against tremendous odds and should also be given space to tell their own stories.
